Buffalo Wild Wings Inc. estimates it will sell about 6 million wings for the Feb. 6 National Football League title game, up 9 percent from last year, Chief Executive Officer Sally Smith said in an interview with Bloomberg News. The most popular: honey barbeque and spicy garlic.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that the number one healthy food choice on Superbowl Sunday is carrots and that carrot sales are the highest right before the Superbowl. “The Super Bowl is the largest single event for carrots,” says Bob Borda, marketing director for Grimmway Farms, one of the biggest distributors of baby-cut carrots. Grimmway sees about 25% higher carrot consumption on Super Bowl Sunday than on a typical Sunday, Mr. Borda who was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal. Avocados, the primary ingredient in guacamole, have increased fourfold growth in sales over the past decade according to the Wall Street Journal, with 71.4 million pounds expected to be consumed Sunday.

On another note, not all restaurant owners are happy on Superbowl Sunday. Some restaurant owners have complained that in the week or two before Superbowl Sunday prices charged by their vendors for wings have doubled or tripled.
